How to Upload a Minecraft Skin — Java, Bedrock, Mobile, Console

You have a 64x64 skin.png — maybe one you just made with BlockSkin, maybe one you downloaded elsewhere. Getting it onto your character works differently on every platform. Here is each one.

1. Minecraft Java Edition (PC, Mac, Linux)

From your browser:

  1. Go to https://www.minecraft.net/profile/skin.
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft account.
  3. Click "Browse..." and select your skin.png.
  4. Pick a model:
    • Classic: Steve — 4-pixel-wide arms
    • Slim: Alex — 3-pixel-wide arms
  5. Click "Upload". It goes live within a minute or two; restart the game if you still see the old one.

From inside the game (1.19.3 and later):

  1. Open "Skin Customization" from the main menu.
  2. Choose "Browse Skin" and select the PNG.
  3. Save.

Shortcut:if you made the skin on BlockSkin, the "Apply to Minecraft" button uploads it to your Mojang account directly once your account is linked — no download step at all.

2. Minecraft Bedrock (Windows 10/11, mobile, console)

  1. Open Minecraft.
  2. Tap the character icon to open the Dressing Room.
  3. Switch to the "Owned" tab in the top right.
  4. Select an empty character slot, or press "+" to create one.
  5. Tap "Choose New Skin".
  6. Pick Classic or Slim.
  7. Select your PNG. It is applied to the active character.

Worth knowing: some multiplayer servers hide imported skins and show only Character Creator ones. That is a server setting, not a problem with your file.

3. Mobile (iOS / Android)

  1. Get the PNG onto the phone — email it to yourself, or send it over Discord.
  2. Open Minecraft and go to the Dressing Room.
  3. Follow the Bedrock steps above; "Choose New Skin" opens your Downloads folder.

4. Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch

Consoles give you very limited access to the file system, so copying a PNG across is awkward. The reliable way around it:

  1. Upload the skin in Bedrock on a PC, signed in to your Microsoft account.
  2. Open Minecraft on the console signed in to that same account.
  3. The skin is already there — Bedrock syncs it with the account, not the device.

Common problems

The upload is rejected

The file has to be a PNG at 64x64 or 128x128. BlockSkin always outputs a valid size; if the file came from somewhere else, check its dimensions and format.

The arms look too thin or too thick

Classic (4px) and Slim (3px) are swapped. Re-upload with the other model selected.

It does not show on a multiplayer server

Some Bedrock servers only display Character Creator skins. On Java servers a standard Mojang skin shows everywhere.
